Celebrating Thom Jackson
In loving memory of our friend, we invite you to join us in celebrating his vibrant spirit on “Wear Pink for Thom Day” on Wednesday the 6th of December.
In a nod to Thom’s unique sense of humour, we’ve chosen to honour him with a day dedicated to wearing pink, inspired by his love for the movie “Mean Girls.” As aficionados of the film know, Wednesdays are reserved for donning this Thom’s favourite colour, and we encourage everyone to embrace the spirit of camaraderie by participating in this fitting tribute.
For those who wish to express their condolences, flowers and cards are welcomed at the school, where we will ensure Thom’s family receives these tokens of remembrance. Let us come together to celebrate Thom’s legacy and the positive impact he had on us all.
Christmas Carols on the Triangle
Don’t forget that we have a big night planned on Thursday.
We’re thrilled to invite you to our much-anticipated annual Christmas Carols Night on the Triangle! Join us on the 7th of December from 6:00 to 7:30 for an enchanting evening filled with festive cheer and community spirit.

- – Venue: The Triangle
- – What to Bring: Don’t forget your picnic rug! Bring along a picnic, and we’ve got you covered with a delicious sausage sizzle provided by TheirCare.
- – Entertainment: Enjoy the melodious backdrop of Christmas carols playing throughout the evening. Feel free to join in and sing along—everyone is welcome!
- – Special Guests: Rumour has it that Santa himself might make a special appearance! Capture the magic and bring your cameras.
- – Christmas Raffle: Get into the festive spirit with our Christmas Raffle! Tickets will be on sale for a chance to win e exciting prizes.
- – Celebration: This is a fantastic opportunity for families to come together, relax, and celebrate the wonderful year we’ve had as a community.

Parent Payments 2024
We are very aware of the pressures brought upon our families with rising interest rates, exorbitant fuel prices and sky rocketing cost of living expenses. As a school we have been very conscious of the financial impact that these things have had on families and as a result we continue to approach our parent payments with a view to ease the financial burden. Our number 1 priority is to continue to maintain the cost of curriculum contributions to a manageable sum. You will have noticed that the 2024 parent payment arrangements have been uploaded to Compass. On the 29th of January 2024 all families are asked to come into the school to pick up their book bags for 2024. Families can then label their items and return them to school on the 30th of January when school commences for students.
Opportunities for payment will be available on the 29th of January.
If you are in a position to support the school with a voluntary contribution, these have been itemised within the parent payment form for your convenience. As a government funded school there are limits to the extracurricular programs that we can provide for our students and these additional supports really strengthen those extracurricular opportunities. Every donation is welcomed.

We are very flexible about these times and will have sibling items available at all times.
Orientation Day
Monday the 18th of December is our whole school transition day. An alternative program will be provided for students who will not be attending RGLPS in 2024.
On the 18th our 2024 students will spend the day with their new teacher, in a classroom with their new classmates. We welcome the opportunity to support our students to feel safe and comfortable in their new spaces so that 2024 can start positively for them. This is especially important taking the context of our last few years into consideration.

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
International Day of People with Disability - December 3
International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is an annual United Nations-observed day that aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.
Sunday 3 December is International Day of People with Disability. This year’s theme is ‘United in action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for, with and by persons with disabilities.’
At Rosanna Golf Links Primary School, we are very lucky to have each and every one of our students who attends this school as they each contribute to our school community in a very unique and special way.
International Day of People with Disability is a chance for us to think about the people we know who live with disability – teachers, students, friends and family members, and others in our community – and recognise how everyone contributes.
Schools for students with disabilities were very different to what they are today. Many schools were not accessible, students with disabilities weren’t able to get the education they deserved. Thankfully we’re in a much better place today.
Our schools and grounds are more accessible, teachers are more knowledgeable about disability and can make changes to help students when it’s needed, and we have more technology available to help students.
We know that students learn differently and we all have our own strengths and challenges.
On Monday 4th December, we will have a special presentation during assembly and discuss ways we can all be more aware, more understanding and accepting every day.
Finlayson Street School Crossing
Please ensure your child is following the instructions from the school crossing supervisor. This includes waiting behind the yellow line until the whistle is blown and walking in front of the supervisor, as opposed to behind as your child crosses the road.
Year Three BYOD Information WEBEX
If your child is entering Year Three next year next year, you will have received an email regarding our BYOD program. In this letter you will note we have set a WEBEX meeting to give you some more detail and answer any questions you might have. I am sending a separate email shortly containing a link for the meeting.
You will have also received an email from Learning With Technologies (LWT) containing a voucher for $200 to support you, should you choose to opt into our program.

STUDENT OF THE WEEK
MUSIC NEWS
Musical Treat for Students
On Friday the grade 2s and 3s enjoyed a wonderful and fun filled musical experience.
The Montmorency Secondary College Intermediate Band directed by Cheryl Clark and the String Ensemble directed by Sharon Cooke (music coordinator) gave students a concert to remember.
The Monty students performed several interesting pieces as well as demonstrating a large range of instruments up close to our students, who made up an audience of around 150 ish students.
Monty Students gave interesting, even funny at times, individual demonstrations of many instruments, including personal reasons why they loved playing an instrument and why they thought theirs was the best !!!!
Instruments demonstrated included: flute, Clarinet, saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Violin , Cello, percussion and piano.
Cheryl Clark had kindly written and arranged level appropriate parts for our training band students which we have been practising this term ,enabling the final item performed today as a combined performance of RGLPS youngest musicians and the MSC Band.
It was a thrill to see the “big kids playing alongside the little kids” , thanks Cheryl.
Such an inspiring and motivating experience for our youngest musicians.
